Jump in The Pool

Are you committed to God? Do you really have the faith that God can do anything? In the beginning of the book of Matthew we see a man that has incredible faith in God. We really know little about this man. We typically do not credit him with much, and many times over look his role. The role of husband, the role of dad, the role of God’s servant.

Joseph shows us incredible faith as he trusts in God. He trusts that the baby his beloved Mary is carrying is from the Holy Spirit. Joseph then makes a commitment to God to take Mary as his wife, he trust that what was revealed to him in a dream is true and right.

Later, again in a dream, the angel of the Lord appears to Joseph and alerts Joseph that he needs to protect his family by escaping to Egypt. Joseph, being a faithful committed man of God immediately takes his family to Egypt for an undetermined amount of time, to protect Jesus.

Again, in a dream, the angel appears to Joseph and tells him to once again move his family. Joseph, being a committed man of God, listens and ends up taking his family to Nazareth.

Joseph embarked on an amazing journey. It would have been easy to walk away from his relationship with Mary. It would have been easy to turn his back on her and her baby, but he didn’t, he trusted in God. Because of Joseph’s commitment to God he helps to protect our Savior. He shows to us his love for Mary, his love for Jesus, and his love for God. Do you have this type of commitment to God? Do you trust in Him? God lays out a plan for our lives in His word, do you read it? Do you regularly communicate with God?

God loves you!
Have you ever been at the pool with a young child and you are telling them to jump in the water and you will catch them? You tell them to trust you, you’ll catch them. And because they have faith in you, they jump!

God is saying, today, jump in the pool, I’ll catch you. Place your faith in me. Will you choose to jump in the pool today? Will you trust Him in 2009?
